Italian Meatball Subs Aria

A flavorful and hearty sandwich featuring tender meatballs nestled in toasted bread with marinara and melted cheese.

Ingredients
1 pound (450g) ground beef or turkey
1/2 cup breadcrumbsmake it yourself
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheesemake it yourself
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 large egg
1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup marinara sauce
4 hoagie or sub rollsmake it yourself
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheesemake it yourself
2 tablespoons olive oil
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)make it yourself

Method

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, egg, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Form the mixture into 12-15 small meatballs.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides until golden, about 5 minutes.

Add marinara sauce to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.

While the meatballs simmer, slice the rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.

Place the rolls on a baking sheet, spoon meatballs and sauce inside, and top with shredded mozzarella.

Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
