Homemade Scallion

Create your own fresh and flavorful scallions from scratch to brighten up any dish!

Ingredients
4 bunches fresh green onions (scallions)make it yourself
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
Optional: a pinch of sugar for sweetness

Method

Select fresh, firm green onions with bright green tops.

Rinse thoroughly under cold water to remove dirt.

Drain well.

Chop the green parts into thin rings and dice the white parts finely.

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped white parts and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.

Then add the green parts and cook for another 2-3 minutes until tender but still bright green.

Sprinkle with salt and a pinch of sugar if desired.

Stir to combine and cook for another minute.

Remove from heat and let cool.

Your homemade scallion is ready to use fresh or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
